The first UHV substation expansion project in Shandong Province has been put into operation smoothly

Jinan, People's Daily, November 11 (Xinhua) In the early morning of November 11, with the success of the impact power transmission of the newly expanded 1000 kV transformer, the first UHV substation in Shandong Province, the expansion project of Quancheng 1000 kV substation, was successfully put into operation.

It is reported that the Quancheng 1000 kV substation is the hub substation of the provincial super power grid and an important clean energy channel of the national air pollution control plan. As the receiving substation of Ximeng-Shandong UHV AC project, the station has delivered 38.76 billion kilowatt-hours of clean energy from other provinces in Shandong since it was put into operation in 2016 to October 31, 2019. During the peak period of electricity load in winter and summer, the clean energy delivered by the station from other provinces effectively made up for the gap of electricity load in Shandong, and greatly eased the tension of electricity consumption.

This expansion project of Quancheng Station includes two 1000 kV transformers and six 110 kV capacitor bays. The rated capacity of a single transformer reaches 3 million kilowatts. After being put into operation, Quancheng Station will increase the external power transmission capacity by 6 million kilowatts, which is one of the largest UHV substations in the world. As an important project to ensure the smooth power transmission and operation of this expansion project, the UHV transformer system needs to undergo a total of 6 commissioning tests, including 1000 kV side switching and 500 kV side switching. The operation lasts for 5 days and the cumulative lean operation exceeds 1000 times.

At the same time, the expansion project is also an important part of the Shangdong-Hebei UHV AC loop network, which can comprehensively optimize the grid structure, significantly improve the ability of Shandong UHV grid to cope with complex environment, ensure the safe and stable operation of the grid, and provide a stronger clean energy guarantee for the upcoming peak winter.
